What's New in Open Active - May 2026
Open Active continues to evolve thanks to feedback from clubs and players across our network. Here's a look at some of the latest improvements included in Version 4.0.7.
Split Payments
This update was built specifically for squash clubs, where players often need to share the cost of lights when making a court booking.
Instead of one player needing to cover the full lights fee, Open Active can now split the payment between players, making it easier and fairer for everyone involved.
This is an important step as we expand Open Active beyond tennis and welcome more racket sport clubs onto the platform.
Virtual League
Inspired by a format that has proven very successful in the UK, we've started rolling out Open Active Virtual League to gauge interest from players and clubs.
Players can register their interest, select their sport, gender and playing level, and become part of a growing network of players looking for competitive matches beyond their own club.
This is an early step, and we'll be closely monitoring interest and feedback as we continue developing the concept.
Rankings Improvements
We've continued refining the rankings system with:
Improved handicap calculations
Better first-match logic
More transparent ranking adjustments
Additional admin tools
Players can now better understand how and why their ranking changes.
Android App
The Open Active Android app is now available.
Android users will see prompts throughout the platform to download the app and enjoy a smoother mobile experience when booking courts, managing matches and interacting with their club.

Events continue to receive improvements, including:
